McDonagh, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on the left fore post race

The Raceday Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Ms. A. O'Keeffe, that L. Quinlan, rider of Qatar Spirit (FR), had weighed in at 1.3lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had weighed in heavy owing to plenty of kick back from the testing ground conditions and showed evidence of this on his clothing. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards accepted the explanation offered on this occasion

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Halsafari, ridden by B

Hayes, placed third, Millstream Lady, ridden by C.P. McNamara, placed second, and Rockbrook, ridden by S.D

Torrens, placed first, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. B. Hayes stated that he received interference from the winner, but was satisfied that it had not cost him a better finishing position. C.P. McNamara stated that he received interference from the winner which had both bumped him and carried him off his racing line and felt it had cost him the winning of the race. S.D. Torrens accepted that his mount had caused interference, but was of the opinion that he had corrected it after the bump and felt that he had not improved his finishing position as a result of the interference that was caused. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Rockbrook had caused interference to Millstream Lady and as a result of this interference had improved its finishing position

As a consequence, the Raceday Stewards reversed the placings of the first and second placed horses and amended the result to read as follows: Amended Result: First: Millstream Lady Second: Rockbrook Third: Halsafari Fourth: Cheerful Chap Fifth: Qatar Spirit Sixth: Swelltime Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that S.D. Torrens was in breach of Rule 214 (careless riding) and having considered his clean record in this regard, they suspended him for two racedays.
