Lecky Watson delights Mullins on chasing debut
Lecky Watson (10/3) was driven out to account for odds-on-favourite Slade Steel in the opening beginners' chase at Naas. Mon 16th DecBacktonormal makes successful transition to Cromwell

Sun 03rd MarBig festivals await Answer To Kayf
Lightly-raced eight-year-old Answer To Kayf (7/2) confirmed his Christmas promise when landing today's useful Connolly's Red Mills Irish EBF Auction Novice Hurdle at Naas, for patient trainer Terence O'Brien. Sat 10th FebBattling Blizzard wins on hurdling debut
Aintree festival bumper-placed Blizzard Of Oz justified 5/4 favouritism in winning his first jumps race today, landing Punchestown's William Hill Play Responsibly Maiden Hurdle to give his trainer Willie Mullins and jockey Paul Townend doubles. Tue 12th DecMullins brings up double via Captain Cody
The jockeys on Willie Mullins' market leaders in the bumper at Limerick held differing views on where to race on the track, and it was Jody Townend's Captain Cody who came home best. Tue 31st JanDe Bomhead's Slade Steel wins bumper finale
Point-to-point winner Slade Steel landed Punchestown's concluding Irish EBF Auction (Pro-Am) Bumper today, scoring smartly for trainer Henry De Bromhead, jockey John Gleeson and owners Robcour. Mon 19th DecImpulsive Dancer skates home for Townend
Willie Mullins' Impulsive Dancer marked himself out as a smart sort when taking the Listed bumper in Limerick by a healthy margin. Sun 27th Mar
After race at Leopardstown Sun, 3rd Mar, 2024 (1st)
I think the shorter trip was a benefit and he jumped better than he did in Naas. The ground might not be riding as heavy as people anticipated when I see (stablemate) Captain Cody being tapped for toe and that fella going easily at the second last. Captain Cody probably wants a longer trip. I’d imagine both horses will be aimed for the final in Punchestown and they will probably have a run before that.

After race at Cork Thu, 23rd Mar, 2023 (1st)
He had been very disappointing but Captain Cody (finished sixth at Cheltenham) is a better horse than we thought and I don't think we were hard enough on this fellow at home. Since he was beaten at Limerick we have been much harder on him and I think he is fitter. I think he is a good horse, he has the size to jump and loved that ground. I'm imagine he'll go for a winners' bumper and Aintree is a possibility, along with Punchestown.
