Navan Sat, 18th May, 2024 Global Export The long straight suits him and Dollar Value in there probably helped as well, they went a right good gallop,. He had a lovely run the last day in Punchestown and I thought coming here if he reproduced that (he would run well). It is not coming out of turn either. It is a while since he has won and he has been running consistently well and the handicapper, I suppose rightly, hasn't been dropping him. I'd say he will mix and match. |
Kilbeggan Fri, 17th May, 2024 Bardenstown Lad We’re very surprised. His last couple of runs over fences he didn’t want to know about it and he had no race the other day in Tipperary as he made no effort at all. He just doesn’t seem to enjoy chasing. He was entered in Doncaster (Sales) next week but I’d say there might be a change of plan. I’ve no idea where he’ll go next but that’s a nice prize to get. |
Kilbeggan Fri, 17th May, 2024 If You Let Me It was a nice opportunity and he jumped really well and loved that ground. We fancied him a few days in bumpers and he just didn’t find anything off the bridle and you’d wonder if something came to him what there would be there. Hopefully that will give him a bit of confidence and he’ll be campaigned over the summer. |
Down Royal Mon, 6th May, 2024 Born Braver He is ground and trip versatile. It was a very messy race and they went pretty steady early and it turned into a sprint. He showed a little bit of class there although it is probably hard to weigh up off that race. You probably could go back to 2m4f, but I think he will stay 3m very well. I think he will make into a nice chaser at some stage. |
Down Royal Mon, 6th May, 2024 Tell Us This He was probably in front plenty soon enough and was quite green when he got there,. He kept the head down, in fairness. The last couple of days he faded very quick, he never picked up at all the last day in Naas. I suppose the first time on better ground. |
Punchestown Sat, 4th May, 2024 Will The Wise He’s weak and will be a good horse when he gets to jump fences. Deccy said the pace was very stop/start and he was only getting going at the finish. He’d been going nicely at home and we ran him in a schooling bumper last week. That’s him gone now for the summer and he’ll go hurdling later in the year. |
Punchestown Sat, 4th May, 2024 Stumptown He was right there the other day and was going well (when taken out by a loose horse). I suppose it was lucky enough that it wasn’t too far into the race that he could come back here today. He actually benefitted from the experience of the race the other day. He knew his job much better and has a future at this job. Sean said the other day he was inclined to jump over the hedges where today he flicked through them. He’s a very laidback kind of horse and takes his races well. The second horse also ran well and we’ll probably keep him at this as well. They will both go on a summer break now. |
Punchestown Fri, 3rd May, 2024 Brides Hill She was very good. I was concerned, as I thought the ground was gone for her, to be honest. She was foot perfect, she has had issues with her jumping in the past but she’s become very good now. Keith (Donoghue) has done a lot of schooling with her and it’s unfortunate he can’t be on her, but Sean does a lot of work with these horses too and it’s nice to see him getting a day. At Cheltenham, we took her out because of the ground, but isn’t it great to win here. She’s a talented mare. The ground at Cheltenham this year was a bit of an extreme and it wouldn’t have worked. I’m glad we didn’t run her because we wouldn’t be here if we did. It’s been a brilliant season. All the horses are running great and that was my 70th jumps winner for the season. It’s fantastic, 62 was my best, and that was the target. |
Punchestown Fri, 3rd May, 2024 Brides Hill She was very good. I was concerned as I thought the ground was gone for her to be honest,. Punchestown Wed, 1st May, 2024 Backtonormal Tom Furlong (part owner) put in my first gallop and he’s a great fella. He runs in Darren Cahill’s colours who is also a great supporter of the yard as well. It’s a great pot to win. It’s his first run for me - Mags had him and he was banging on the door. It was an obvious target and we just had enough time to transition from Mags’ to here. His form was good and I thought he’d run well. He stayed well and it looks like he’ll make a nice chaser. |
Punchestown Tue, 30th Apr, 2024 Sixandahalf she has obviously improved from the first day when she was very green and I'm delighted with the way she picked up and quickened away. I thought if she ran well here that she might win a summer bumper, so I'm delighted. It's the owners' (Best of the Rest Syndicate) first horse with me and they only bought her since she finished second the last day so they're off to a good start. That winner went on and won at Fairyhouse and I thought Sixandahalf improved plenty from that run. I thought she'd run a big race but then I came into the parade ring and looked at all these fine big horses and she is quite small. She's doesn't know she's small, to be fair to her, and she has an engine. |
Navan Sat, 27th Apr, 2024 Transcendental Down in grade and they went good and fast which suited her fine. Robbie was good on her, he was nice and patient and when she hit the rising ground she stayed on well. I was a little bit concerned that the five might be a bit sharp, but it is a stiff five here and there was loads of pace in it which helped. |
Bellewstown Wed, 24th Apr, 2024 Me Wee Bonnie Lass Absolutely (likeable mare with a good attitude), and she was actually quite green there today. I think it is only her fourth run of her life and you'd forget that. She's going the right way and is a nice mare. She has won on heavy as well. I'm not sure where we will go next, but she has taken a few scalps there. It is great for the owners, they only live down in Duleek. Great to have a local winner. |
Bellewstown Wed, 24th Apr, 2024 Club Manager Aubrey McMahon bought him and he was well bought (47,000gns at the Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale). He jumped better and Sean gave him a lovely ride. He took his time and they went very fast - Wrecking Ball Paul brought them along at a right good gallop. |
Bellewstown Wed, 24th Apr, 2024 Pinot Gris Absolutely (kept it simple off the front) and cheekpieces helped him as well as he races a little bit lazily. A little bit nicer ground helped as well, it was very deep ground the last day (in Cork). I'm not saying he needs good ground, but deep winter ground is probably a little too much for him. |
