Things haven't quite gone to plan in the last couple of seasons but his very best form puts him up there with some of the great hurdlers.
Here we take a look at his profile in depth, starting with his early days and looking at how his career has progressed.
Early days
Foaled in March 2017, Constitution Hill is a bay gelding by the late sire Blue Bresil and out of the mare Queen Of The Stage. He was bred by Sally Noott at Throckmorton Court Stud and was originally purchased by Barry Gerraghty and Warren Ewing for a fee of €16,500.
Starting off in an Irish point-to-point at Tipperary as a four-year-old, a mistake at the last fence cost him victory and he had to settle for second behind three-time hurdles winner Anyharminaskin.
Leading British trainer Nicky Henderson then picked him up at the Goffs UK sale the following month, for a fee of £120,000. He was purchased on behalf of Michael Buckley and the horse has worn his familiar white silks ever since.
Supremely talented - novice hurdle campaign (2021-2022)
It was immediately obvious that this horse had all the talent in the world and he absolutely destroyed Might I in a novice hurdle at Sandown on debut. That horse went on to become a 146-rated chaser and Constitution Hill made him look silly.
A step up in grade was next on the agenda and he ran in the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle over the same course and distance. Probably a Grade 1 in name only, the form wasn't too strong but you had to be impressed by the manner in which he did it.
Henderson's gelding went off the 9/4 favourite for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle and that was the last time he went off at odds against until the 2025 Fighting Fifth Hurdle. He absolutely destroyed a smart field and pulled 22 lengths clear of the runner-up.
Champion Hurdle dominance (2022-2023)
Constitution Hill began the next campaign up at Newcastle for the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle and he made 2020 Champion Hurdle winner Epatante look like a 130-rated handicapper, cruising past her to score by 12 lengths.
Even more impressive at Kempton after that, he went on to win the Christmas Hurdle by even further and it was clear that no horse in the division would be able to get near him. State Man was next to have a go and he was dispatched just like the rest of them.
The Champion Hurdle was billed as the big clash between the pair and Henderson???s star hurdler travelled like a dream throughout and hit the front going easily after the third last and pulled impressively clear up the hill to score by nine lengths.
Recent history
He managed to win the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton again the following season but he was then off the track for a year due to injury. A third Christmas Hurdle victory was next on the agenda and that came at the expense of Willie Mullins' star mare Lossiemouth.
His jumping problems started in the Champion Hurdle last year and he then didn't make it round in the Aintree Hurdle the following month. A bitterly disappointing effort then followed at Punchestown and he fell again at Newcastle in November.

I’ve had 12 months of anxious moments, but that is our life and the closer it gets the more anxious you get. Have we done this and have we done that, but there is a brilliant team behind it all and they have been fantastic. We all know the last few weeks are horrible, I hope I haven’t been too bad but they have been absolutely brilliant. Only one of these horses come along in a lifetime. You can’t get a horse like this if you only have one horse, you have to have a lot of horses to find one of these and we are lucky. I think it is extraordinary that is just the sixth race of his life and he’s doing that now. We had some wonderful days here with Sprinter Sacre, in particular his comeback Champion Chase, that was about as unique as it got — but this horse is going to extraordinary levels at the moment. We are very lucky to be the custodians of this horse, but then the trouble is the responsibility that comes with that. We’ll sleep on that one. They always say you should never paint a horse until he’s retired. It took me a long time before I would say Sprinter was better than say See You Then, but I had to admit it in the end. Altior was another great horse. We’ve just been very lucky, but this looks totally unique — he’s just so unflappable. I went to see him last night and fed him a pocket full of carrots and then Jaydon (Lee, stable lad) went to give him another ton of carrots but nothing worries him, he just ate the

That was awesome. I know what the second horse is and I would have been very surprised if anything could have done that to Jonbon, so he must be an extraordinary animal. The hype horse earlier on in the year was Jonbon, then this fella woke up from his slumbers at home and we suddenly realised that actually he was very good. He’s been very good but the big question was how much he actually knew, he’s run in two hurdle races with four runners in each. To suddenly go out there and go at that gallop, that’s the extraordinary thing. He can travel so easily at that pace and then pick it up, to find gears at the end of a headlong gallop like that was extraordinary.
