Tramore Sun, 13th Apr, 2025  Long Gone We took a bit of a risk running her back over two miles, but the race was worth €15,000 and as we are only down the road, we said we'd take our chance. I told Alex before hand to give her a nice aggressive ride, she has plenty of experience. She was the only winner in the field, I won a bumper on her at Limerick last year. Ideally she wants two miles four to two five. We had a bit of luck with the horses coming down two out, but the riders and horses are up and that's the main thing. It's great to pick up the €5,000 bonus as well. I'm delighted for her owners John Bates and his son Gilmer, they are great supporters of the yard. Chris Shanahan (course foreman) deserves plenty of credit for the condition of the ground. It's back to yielding and that's what the riders want, safe ground.

Downpatrick Sun, 30th Mar, 2025  Asphalt Cowboy Paddy (Mullins) got a great spin (on Cause For Comment) and I thought he was going to win turning in. Loose horse didn't help him the whole way, but that was only his third run over fences and he is going to be a lovely horse next year when he's with a proper trainer!. I thought that horse (Asphalt Cowboy) might run well, he'd love it around here. He's an oul rogue but he has been a brilliant horse for us. We bought him last year and that is his third win for us. We bought him for Michael to ride. He works for me and has been with me since he was 12. He's a brilliant little rider. He came to the yard one day and never left! When he goes somewhere proper next year, he will fly. The saddle went on him jumping the second-last and he stayed with him. He'd be used to hanging onto things in my place! He was brilliant on him and gets on great with that horse.

Gowran Park Sat, 15th Feb, 2025  Classic Getaway It was a good performance, he has been improving all season. Danny was very keen to stress that the three fences in the straight made a big difference to him because his jumping brought him into the race without any effort and then he had that final kick to go and win the race. It was nice for Cheveley Park to have a Red Mills winner.

Limerick Tue, 28th Jan, 2025  On Your Way I had intended staying over fences after his run at Cork the last day but when I was making entries, I saw there was only a small entry for this so stuck him in. He ran away with Philip here during Christmas and tried to do the same today but Sean (O'Keeffe) seems to be able to handle him and manage him better. Philip has had bad falls from him, so he is Sean's ride if he wants him. . He'll run in whatever pops up next.

Thurles Sun, 19th Jan, 2025  Willitgoahead Maybe we bumped into a very good horse in Limerick but he caught us by surprise then as he had a good blow and it was the first race he had all winter. He had been winning his races easily until then and we were expecting to do that today. He came to himself this year, has really matured and is a good ride and jumps really well. I think he is now getting down to racing and can improve again. He loved the better ground. We are dreaming about this lad for a while and hopefully we will now head on to Cheltenham and take our chances. We have options though and could wait for Aintree, but we'll see. I think this might be the year for him as I can't see a top-class Open horse coming back: the best one I've seen is Big Interest, who won a point to point for me but needs soft ground. If the ground came up good, we would be fancying our chances at Cheltenham.

Navan Sun, 15th Dec, 2024  Blaze The Way I'm delighted with him. He won his bumper and was placed over hurdles. I think he's a stayer and the last day we kind of rode him the wrong way in a better race. I've liked him for a while and I wasn't surprised to see that. He probably has his level, I'm not sure, but I'm charmed to have a winner here today. We'll get him back home now and talk with the two boys (Brian and Tom Groarke). We won't go again quickly with him, there might be something at the Thyestes meeting for him. We'll see how he improves from here.
