Jade De Grugy looked like another exciting French recruit for Willie Mullins when running out an impressive winner of the opening Savills Maiden Hurdle at Leopardstown this afternoon. Thu 28th Dec
After race at Punchestown Sat, 3rd May, 2025 (1st) 
She stays well but at least I was able to pull the trigger then from the front end when I wanted to. She jumped great, she's a dinger. She has plenty of size about her too if you wanted to jump a fence she'll have no bother. She’s a mare that’s been improving all year. Nicer ground was a big help and tactically Paul was brilliant. Brighterdaysahead probably just had a very hard race at Christmas and she never really recovered from it. We’re delighted to be able to win a Grade 1 with a filly like this. I’d say we’ll probably train her for the Mares’ Hurdle next year.

After race at Punchestown Thu, 20th Feb, 2025 (1st)
It was a lovely run, it was a nice comeback to racing,. Annie Power won this race before winning the Champion Hurdle a few years ago and it has been won in the past by a mare (Black Tears) before winning the Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham. She had worked nicely at home and I was very happy with her coming here. She showed me today what she had showed me at home. I think she’ll improve a fair bit for the race, which leaves us in a good position going to Cheltenham. I’ve no ground issues with her. Carrying the weight she carried today against nice opposition, I think is a good sign.

That was a huge performance coming back from Cheltenham, she was very tough. Paul didn’t think he was going well a lot of the way but it just shows what sort of engine she has. It’s tough luck on Spindleberry. I thought she had it won at the last but as we saw yesterday so many races were lost between the last hurdle and the line. The extra half-mile was definitely a help to her and she does look like a two and a half mile mare. I’d imagine we’ll look at Punchestown with her now.

Today is the reason that I hoped we’d be right. He’s a horse I’ve loved since the first day he came into the stable. I think he could go the whole way, with a bit of luck – you need a lot of luck in this game.
