Aintree Thu, 3rd Apr, 2025  Murcia I wouldn’t be worried if I was Dan, he seems to have the thing fairly solid at the moment. I can’t see us winning it unless we win the Grand National and Dan has a complete flop, which doesn’t happen. We had an extraordinary year last year and we’re a lot more behind this year.

Aintree Thu, 3rd Apr, 2025  Murcia I was disappointed for Michael (Buckley, owner), Nicky and Nico and the connections of Constitution Hill – and for racing. We came here knowing our mare was in good shape and we thought the (two-and-a-half-mile) trip would suit us this time (rather than two miles at Kempton), but we never got to find out. When Paul made his move it has eventually paid off, but I was wondering had he done it too soon. Nico has a great habit of looking like he is under pressure and then finding another bit in the last furlong. A couple of times we’ve thought we had Nico beat and he’s actually got a little bit up his sleeve, so I did wonder if Paul had played his cards too early, but it was gifted to him so what could he do.

Cheltenham Fri, 14th Mar, 2025  Dinoblue She ran a great race last year, it didn’t work out for her then and today it did work out for her. I’m sorry for Allegorie De Vassy, she’s run a cracker of a race. She was jumping too big and would have preferred a bit of company up front with her, I think.

Cheltenham Wed, 12th Mar, 2025  Jazzy Matty Somebody is looking over us today and our thoughts and hearts are with Michael. It’s unbelievable. We were very hopeful coming here today, but it’s Cheltenham and we needed a lot of luck on our side. We had that. I said that that – Marine Nationale and Jazzy Matty winning – doesn’t happen often. This is for Michael.

Punchestown Thu, 20th Feb, 2025  Jade De Grugy It was a lovely run, it was a nice comeback to racing,. Annie Power won this race before winning the Champion Hurdle a few years ago and it has been won in the past by a mare (Black Tears) before winning the Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham. She had worked nicely at home and I was very happy with her coming here. She showed me today what she had showed me at home. I think she’ll improve a fair bit for the race, which leaves us in a good position going to Cheltenham. I’ve no ground issues with her. Carrying the weight she carried today against nice opposition, I think is a good sign.

Naas Sat, 8th Feb, 2025  Dinoblue The two of them went a great gallop the whole way. There was no hiding place even though there was only the two of them involved. They will both go for the (Mrs Paddy Power) Mares Chase at Cheltenham and I’m very happy with both of them.

Leopardstown Sun, 2nd Feb, 2025  State Man Both jockeys went out with no instructions and I was happy to let them do what they wanted, ride their own horse and their own race. They were setting it up to be a hell of a race. What happened is disappointing for Rich (Ricci, owner of Lossiemouth), it’s disappointing for the public and it’s disappointing for us all. It was just one of those things and Paul said he was lucky not to be brought down. Paul was happier that State Man was back to himself. He only does whatever he has to do, and only wins a length or two when he’s right. Paul never waivered from him. There was never any question which horse he was going to ride today.

Leopardstown Fri, 27th Dec, 2024  Jeannot Lapin I expected him to run really well as his homework had been very good. I thought he was a proper horse,. I bought him in Doncaster off Sam Curling for three grand, Dominic was looking for a horse. I couldn't find what was wrong with him and obviously there is nothing wrong with him. He was maybe a bit sick when he ran in his point-to-points or something. He's from the family of Epatante and is by Doctor Dino so I wouldn't say he stays three miles. He did a piece of work around Tipperary two weeks ago and showed me enough to say he'd be competitive in one of these. He was entitled to be here. He's massive and he was a shell in May. To be fair to his owner Dominic he brought him home and fed him all through the summer. I'm delighted for Dominic and Paula, Dom is a great character and I'm so happy for him. I'm hoarse from roaring. There is no plan, the plan was today as he wanted a runner here. He sent me off to buy a horse and I got one for three grand to run in Leopardstown at Christmas. I've never had a horse as big as him, maybe a hunter!
