The Kilminfoyle House Stud Maiden went to the 15/8 favourite Preamble who, after racing in second, led over a furlong out and wasn’t extended to beat Colfer Kay (16/5) by a length and a quarter.

40/1 outsider Mickey the Steel was another half a length back in third.

The winning son of No Nay Never had shaped well when third on debut at Naas last month.

Winning rider Seamie Heffernan said of the Aidan O’Brien-trained winner: "He’d a nice run in Naas and is a lovely laid-back horse.

I’ve ridden him at home and in the race today he was again laid-back. I like him and he can go a bit further.”

Heffernan's mount handled the officially Soft ground well but the rider reported that he felt it wasn't overly testing.
