It’s hard to believe, he’s been in great form all year and even last year. When they said it had gone good in places here today, I was nearly thinking about withdrawing but Darragh said it was on the slow side of good. It would be yielding to soft ground for the Flat, so that suits him. He moved out at the right time or he would have been gone as well (at the third last). He did it well. Hopefully he’ll got to Listowel after that.
H Rogers
He is a dream and just eats, sleeps and does his work. In fairness to Ronan, we had a plan going out and said if they were going too slow to go on down the back straight, which he did. He is a right horse on his day and is a gent. He is a dream horse and was like his late owner Jerry Nolan. James, his brother, has taken over the ownership now and is the same. We just couldn't get an ease in the ground in the past few weeks, and the plan now is to go to Galway where he has a few choices. He could run in the amateur handicap on the Flat or in the Galway Hurdle, if he gets slow ground.
H Rogers
Darragh knows him well and was very good on him. I was a bit worried about the ground but Darragh said it was no problem. I could never get him into a good race with a light weight and it was the same on the Flat. He’d a proper weight on his back today and there was a good gallop which suited him. His (late) owner Jerry Nolan was a pure gentleman. I rode winners for him and having an owner like him, you couldn’t buy them. He was easy to train for. This place has been good to me as a jockey and a trainer.
H Rogers
He probably just got first run on them. When Siobhan went for him, that was probably the winning of the race. He is not too fast nowadays but he gallops, that's the one thing about him. He has been a great servant, like his owner Jerry (Nolan) when he was here. Jerry died in the first week of December in 2021 and I lost my wife Mary a few weeks before that. Hopefully the two of them are looking down on us this evening. . He might go to Killarney now next week if there is an ease in the ground. There is a two-mile handicap there and then he might end up in Galway, but it all depends on the ground, he just likes a like ease and there is a little ease in it there tonight.
H Rogers
Hopefully he's looking down, he was a great man to have and a big loss,. Siobhan listened to me, he wants two miles and she got him up there on the outside. She's very good for her 5lb claim. She was good because he was out very slow and she made her way up the outside. I was glad to see the rain, I wouldn't have run him if it hadn't come so we were just lucky. It's nice to get one.
H Rogers
He's a decent horse on his day but he's had problems and it's just taken a long time to get him back,. He was a bit keen today and the jumping seemed to wake him up a little bit. He handles that ground well and stays well. Hopefully things stay right with him, it's a long time since he won the Irish Cesarewitch here. He'll keep on going over the winter. It's nice for the owner Jerry Nolan who is a very patient man, it has paid off. There might be something for him over two-and-a-half or three miles at Leopardstown over Christmas.
H Rogers
We had to take our chance and it worked. We are lucky to have a good owner and a nice horse and we might get another one somewhere along the line. He is in Clonmel next week and we might go there. He'll stay over hurdles now and once there's an ease in the ground he'll stay ticking away.
H Rogers
He was my last winner and it's nice to get one on the board again. There was probably only the two of them in it (the race),. He might run on Thursday at Tipperary if he gets in. He's first reserve at Naas tomorrow but we'll probably leave him alone. He's 18 in the ballot at Tipperary but that might bring him up a bit. We'll see what the handicapper does. He'll probably stay over hurdles for a while. He wants a dig in the ground and he wouldn't want it any quicker than that. Hopefully he might end up in Galway if all goes well, that's the main plan. Ideally if he could scrape into the amateur race.
H Rogers
They went a nice gallop, he was off a light weight and it suited him. It's nice to get a prize like that for a good owner. He was a weak horse when I got him first and he's just got better with a bit of time,.
H Rogers
He did it well. He's improving as he's got stronger. He wouldn't be in love with the ground but he got away with it. When they get off in front here it seems to be hard to catch them. He's in at Ballinrobe next Thursday (over hurdles) but he hasn't really taken to hurdles so far. We might be better off keeping him on the Flat and go back over hurdles next year.
H Rogers
he just ran too free at Tramore, and the plan was always to come here. Smullen was available which was a help, and he’s done it well.
H Rogers
