We said we were going to have one shot at him (Psalm) and we weren't going to do the donkey work today. Ben said 'I'll have one go at him' and it worked lovely. What a genuine horse to go to battle with, he's been very good. It is something that we would always be thinking about - swapping the headgear around and bits and pieces. We took the headgear off him there for a couple of runs and he ran a couple of crackers. I just felt the last day he was waiting a bit for them, so thinking about it during the week we said we would put the cheekpieces on. He only had them on once. We just put Ben up. Darragh (O'Sullivan) has done a brilliant job on him, he has done nothing wrong. We just said we would go for a bit more experience today in what we thought was going to be a tactical race. Ben said he moved beautifully down to the start, he said he gave him some feel. He said they went a true gallop and he said at the furlong pole he thought he had a chance. He didn't say he was going to win, but he thought he had a chance. He said he really battled for him then. I would say he'll come back here. We will let him freshen up again as he likes to be fresh. That's his career-high mark he is after winning off as an eight-year-old. From the horse's point of view, it is thumbs up to him. It is impressive. He is thriving on his work.

He loves it around it around here and hasn't run a bad race here. . His run in Dundalk was a grand run. Going there he was working very well and I was a shade disappointed, I thought he'd be nearer. It probably was a better race, the premier handicaps aren't easy won. . He came out of it well and we said we'd come back here to where he likes, and it's down in grade. . The young man that rode him gave him a lovely ride, he was very cool and is good value for his 10lb. We've been keeping a good eye on him. We're very happy with the result. He'll probably have a run over hurdles at Kilbeggan in a fortnight. The plan would be to go chasing at some stage.

To be honest, if it was the day before over hurdles (sixth in Leopardstown), we really fancied him. The rain came that night and just spoiled our chances but he ran a cracker. We put him away after that and said we would have one run. We hope to go to Lingfield on Good Friday with him now, that's the plan if he gets in. This was a pipe-opener for that.

He got into his own grade today and we were very pleased with him coming here. He’s been consistent all year both over hurdles and on the Flat and it’s just lovely to win on the Flat with him there. He’s been a great servant to us all year. He’s in a novice hurdle in Ayr on Wednesday and the plan would be to go there and maybe come back here before Christmas. He thrives on racing and is providing great sport for the syndicate.

It didn't go right for him in Navan the last day, but Eoin gave him a no-nonsense ride today, he was very good on him. We felt he had improved at home and we had this race pinpointed after Navan. A flat track on nice ground is really his thing. In fairness, he was going away at the line, from the second, and he's improving away. He's really starting to get the hang of hurdling now. We think there is a nice race on the Flat in him as well. We might mix and match or we might just stay hurdling and then go to the Flat later in the season. It's important he won for the lads (Ask Dot Syndicate) as they are good supporters of the yard, it's lovely to have a winner for them.
