It is not his ground. We had a discussion this morning whether we would run him or not, but there are so few races for him. It is only really Thurles I would want to take him to in the spring time. I wouldn't take him to Naas in the glue. We came anyway thinking we could be beaten today, but we need to get battle hardened because he has been doing really. He only kicks in at three miles, he really stays well. Funny enough, if the second-last fence had been there, it would have been even better for him. In the back of Barry's (O'Neill) mind all the time was Punchestown (bad mistake at the last when finishing second in the Champion Hunters Steeplechase in April). Barry just sat on him over the last and was careful and he lost a bit of momentum but then he really picked up and stayed. I'm chuffed to bits because of all the days that he would be beaten in a hunters' chase today would be that day. All roads lead to Cheltenham because it is three mile three up the hill. He kicks in at three miles which is what you need. He could possibly go to the hunters chase at Thurles and then Cheltenham. If he runs between now and Cheltenham, it is one we would consider. This is our number one Cheltenham horse here. He's very young, he's only seven. The nicer the ground, the better he is. The ground he won on at Stratford and Punchestown was lovely ground. We'll keep our fingers crossed we get him there. I wouldn't be averse to going to Cheltenham without a run. He's a big, tall, athletic hors

That was lovely, I was hoping he would do that,. I was so close to taking him to Aintree but I thought we'd just wait. He was second reserve for Winged Leader for Cheltenham as well but he's only seven. He's a very babyish horse in his head so we thought we'd just sit that out this year. Jamie said there that he's a Foxhunter horse for Cheltenham and Aintree next year. I couldn't have been happier coming down when I saw the sun and the wind. I walked the track and thought it was closer to good, but it's beautiful ground. He just floats on that ground and he needs the big track to bring out the best in him, jumping big fences. He's a proper staying horse as he only gets going at two-and-a-half miles. He's lazy up to that stage which will stand him in good stead in the future. It's a lovely race to win, Maple Mons was my last winner in it.

That was lovely because he's such an immature horse in his head. Even though he won an Open the first day it was a nothing race and the last half lap he was just on his own cantering, so it was no preparation for that up against a hardened horse. He did it well and Barry said he was always travelling easy but it's when he has to give him a shove he still doesn't know to do it straight away yet. When he hits the front, it's still like 'what am I doing here?'. That will all come, he's only six but has the right engine and jumps really well. He could be the proper horse for me to go to Cheltenham with for the Foxhunters. He could go to Down Royal but I'm not going to run him on really deep winter ground.
