I got caught for room a little bit between four and three out and I just had to sit. When I got him out in the straight, and got clear road out in front of him, he started to motor. I knew if his jumping held together he was in with a live shout. What he did there was settled which he hadn't done before. He was good and smart down over the first but when Rachael and Philip wanted to go on I elected to just tuck in behind Rachael and he was happy out there. Jumping kept him in the race and his jumping has won it for him at the end of the day because it was a big weight-carrying performance. I've definitely had worse days, that's for sure! I'm very happy to be able to ride this level of horse and the two that came before him. It has been a good day. Paul said he’s settling. He’s always very forward going but today when he got a bit of cover he settled into a rhythm and he was able to delay his challenge. I don't think so (go for Galway Plate again), it would be a bit of an ask. We will see where we go with him. There's not much else - Kerry National maybe but that is over three miles but prize-money wise that would look the race for him. That's a long way away.

He has a habit of jumping a bit right but that’s why the track and the race suited him.

Coming home from here last year we said to ourselves we'd make this the plan again. The horse just seemed to come into tremendous form in the last three weeks. I was really pleased with him and you could even see it in him before the race. The dapples in his coat, he was like a horse getting ready for the Dublin Horse Show rather than coming here. He just looked a picture for the last three weeks at home and I was counting down the days and hoping we might have a bit of luck. It all worked out. I thought he got away in the right position and then I wondered if he was too free. He was jumping fantastically. He absolutely flew the fence past the stands and just got racing again with a circuit to race and I wondered if he was just doing a bit too much too soon, but his jumping just kept him in the game. Paul said his jumping kept gaining him a length or two over his fences and he was able to pull him back and get a breath of air into him after each one so he had enough in reserve. Last year he was just unlucky, he got knocked down on the bend coming up the hill. He was rated 7lb higher this year but he's improving. He's a late developer. Going right-handed is a help, but at one stage I didn't think he'd stay this sort of trip but the way he races now we could probably go further with him even. I'd imagine he will go up in grade now.

I’d suppose he sharpened as the race went on (jumping-wise) and it’s nice to get him back to winning ways,. He had a very good run in Galway last year (2nd in the Plate) and you could imagine he might chart a plan towards then. It’s nice to get the winner and I’d suppose Willie will see what he wants to do with him now.

He toughed it out. They didn't go overly fast but he jumped well and was brave at the end. He had to come through a tight gap at the second last and again up to the line. He saw the trip out well on that ground.

He looks a natural jumper and the couple he met wrong he corrected himself and Paul was very happy with how he did it,. Looking at his performance there I could be sticking to the minimum trip and we'll look at Christmas next. The only two mile race is the Grade 1, unless there's a winners' of one after that.

We were very disappointed in Galway when he just ran a bit keen and the atmosphere probably got to him a bit too. We put the hood on him and it has helped him to relax. Sometimes horses that work so well at home need their first run back but I think he is a horse with a high cruising speed and I hope to get a third bumper out of him. He could also go jumping so we'll have to sit down and argue that one!. Last season he had a setback when he had been doing good work but is back now and he has stood up to three runs. They have done a fantastic job with the ground here and deserve an awful lot of credit.

We got a little messed around at the start in Galway. It didn't go to plan and he ran very keen. Today we decided we would just let him use his stride and let him gallop and that's what we thought he might do in Galway. We think he is a very good horse. I'm not sure whether he'll go for a winners' bumper or he'll go jumping. I think what he shows us at home says he's a good horse, so hopefully onwards and upwards from there.
