< Noble Prince made a pleasing start to his career over fences with a smooth victory in the Dobbins Panoramic Restaurant Beginners Chase at Punchestown.

The six-year-old transferred his smart form over hurdles with a good round of jumping, though there was a scare two out when the leader Saludos blundered and hampered him.

Paul Carberry was quickly back in control, however, and had the 9-10 favourite in front to score by length and three-quarters from Healys Bar

"He settled well today which has been an issue with him before," said Nolan's brother and assistant, James.

"We made a mess of him last season, running him back in the Lismullen Hurdle just a week after winning at Naas and we won't be doing that again as he needs time between his races.

"He could come back here for the Craddockstown Chase (on November 14) and the Drinmore would be another possible race for him."

The Nolan team had struck earlier with Seafield (7-1), a half-brother to the stable's classy chaser Joncol, in the Punchestown Event Centre Maiden Hurdle.

Only third over the last, Alain Cawley got the five-year-old's long stride going to beat well-backed favourite Datokepe with Big Robert third.

"I didn't think he had enough done to win today as he hadn't been away for a gallop," Nolan added.

"He'll probably run again in three weeks in a winners race and the Barry & Sandra Kelly Memorial at Navan would be on our minds for him. He's a fair one."

Carberry also got in on the double act when taking the Christmas Parties At Punchestown Beginners Chase on Thegreatjohnbrowne (8-1) for Noel Meade.

The six-year-old had a growth removed from his throat since last season and Meade's brother, Ben, said: "He disappointed last year after starting great but things went wrong. Hopefully he's back to himself now.

"He won there like a good horse and chasing was always going to be his game."
