Following a request from broadcasters, the Raceday Stewards granted permission for a two minute delay to this race The Raceday Stewards considered a request from John Patrick Ryan, trainer, to substitute D.E. Mullins for L
Quinlan who had been stood down prior to this race. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that D.E. Mullins was familiar with his horses and he wished for him to ride. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards, denied the request for D.E. Mullins to ride but allowed the subsequent request for D. King.
