Willie Mullins unleashed another smart newcomer in a bumper when Argento Boy ran away with the nightcap in Fairyhouse.
This well-related sort put his rivals to the sword in the final quarter of a mile as he moved clear for Jody Townend. The even-money favourite was far from troubled in scooting in by seven lengths. Born Braver (10/1) could make no impression on the winner in second, but was five lengths clear of Lieber Nicc (11/4).
Assistant trainer David Casey said: “He did it very well, he's a big chasing type. I was afraid he might be a little bit green.
“Jody said he was a bit lazy in front, I think when he learns more and learns how to race properly he'll be a decent horse.
“I thought it was a good performance today and he stretched well in the straight. The further he was going the better the better he was going.”
Gordon Elliott's Machismo was a notable non-runner
This was the final leg of a six-timer for Mullins that comprised three meetings - Western Diego and Jade De Grugy were also winners in Fairyhouse while Capodanno and Lossiemouth scored in Cheltenham. Ashroe Diamond won under Patrick Mullins in Doncaster.
