An enquiry was held to consider interference when leaving the backstraight involving the winner, Hydroplane (IRE), ridden by Tom Scudamore, Navajo Pass (GB), unplaced, ridden by Theo Gillard and Hermes Boy (FR), placed fourth, ridden by Chester Williams.
The interference was found to be accidental in that as they entered the railed part of the course, Hermes Boy (FR) had made contact with the rail, moving left-handed into the path of Navajo Pass (GB) causing him to clip heels with the latter.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Natural History (GB), unplaced, lost its left-fore shoe.
