Having not achieved anywhere near as much as the majority of his rivals over hurdles, The Other Mozzie took a considerable step forward on his debut over fences when staying on best to win the Race In Pink Raceday On Sunday 27th October Beginners Chase at Galway.

Rated 119 over flights, the Gavin Cromwell trained gelding looked to face a stiff task on this introduction, facing a number of opponents rated much higher.

However, jumping well in the main, the five-year-old tracked the leaders in fourth, before moving third on the approach to the final two fences.

Pushed along to close on both Will Do and Anyway entering the straight, the 11/1 chance kept on well to head the latter close home, getting up to win by half-a-length.

“He's done it well. He improved for a fence, he jumps a fence a lot better than he jumps a hurdle,” said jockey Keith Donoghue.

“He turned out a little bit disappointing last year but he's after strengthening up well and he had the ability to do that so it's good that he did and hopefully he can keep building on it.

“That ground is perfect, he wouldn't want it much quicker. He has plenty of pace and the way the race was run probably suited us.”
