Willie Mullins has dominated the SBK Solerina Mares Novice Hurdle in recent years and again holds a very strong hand with Aurora Vega Baby Kate and Fancy Girl dominating the market.

Mullins targets this Grade 3 event with some of his best mares and the latest two winners, Jade De Grugy and Ashroe Diamond, both went on to score at the highest level in the Irish EBF Honeysuckle Mares Novice Hurdle at the Fairyhouse Easter meeting.

“It’s hard to get black type races for these well-bred mares and they all deserve to run. They are all in good shape and I’m very happy with them,” said Mullins.

“This is a lovely stepping stone towards the Grade 1 at Fairyhouse.

“To have a Grade 1 race for mares in Ireland is tremendous — we don’t know how lucky we are.

“We go to Cheltenham for the Grade 2 but we always try and keep mares back to go for this race.”
