Dee Capo made most of the running under Jack Kennedy before running out a very easy winner of Division l of the opening Paddy Power From The Horse's Mouth Podcast Maiden Hurdle at Cork.
A bumper winner at Galway on his latest start, the Gordon Elliott trained gelding was backed to the exclusion of virtually everything else in this contest, going off a well supported 8-13f from early shows of odds against.
Sent straight to the front by Kennedy, he led for much of the race, being headed only for a brief period by Lisamaria after the fourth last flight.
Back in front before three out, Dee Capo extended clear under a tight rein, even overcoming a slight mistake at the second last, before quickening clear to win readily by six lengths.
Winning jockey Jack Kennedy said: "He is a big good looking horse who did it well. He jumped well, had a little look around in front but you'd forgive him that. In a better race with a lead, he'll be a better horse again and he loved that ground.
"Overall I'm very pleased with him and I'd say he is a horse who whatever he does over hurdles will be a bonus as he is a chaser in the making."
