De Temps En Temps capped a memorable day for Gavin Cromwell when completing a 255/1 four-timer for the local trainer in the SBK (Pro/Am) Flat Race.
The victory appeared unlikely when ridden along in sixth place under two furlongs out but the 5/2 chance found plenty to quicken up between horses inside the final furlong.
Declan Lavery ’s mount ultimately won quite convincingly by two and a quarter lengths from Parnell Street with Powerful Paddy a head further back in third.
Cromwell said, “It’s been a brilliant day. I’m not sure if I had an across-the-card four-timer before but that’s definitely my first at one meeting. It’s great, at a local track as well.
“He was good. I thought turning in ‘what’s after going wrong here, I thought he was much better than that’ but once he got going, he flew.
“I thought it was getting very tight at the furlong pole, but he was lucky enough to get through. He picked up to get in between them and then pricked his ears when he got there.”
When asked if he would go for another bumper he added, “I don’t have a plan. It’s probably the sensible thing to do as I think he’s a nice horse and he’ll make into a nice novice for next year.”
The Danestown trainer was successful earlier on the card with Sixandahalf (2/1), Noble Birth (11/4) and The King Of Prs (11/2), who led home a 1-2-3 for the yard in the featured Dan & Joan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase.
