Trainer Terence O'Brien's own Cork-based racing syndicate were in full voice again at Clonmel today, as their Emancipator (3/1f) won consecutive renewals of the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase.
Emancipator landed a gamble on chase debut to win the 2022 renewal and today, on his second chase start and rated 15lb higher under jockey John Shinnock, out-battled Eddies Pride to score dourly.
Parade ring renditions of 'The banks of my own lovely Lee' are de rigueur for TerenceOBrien Racing Syndicate-owned winners, with O'Brien reporting “we bought Emancipator just before winning this race last and he was a great horse to get.
“He didn't run well over hurdles afterwards but we gave him a break and he won really well at Fairyhouse (November) when we thought he would have a really good season.
“However a lot of my horses weren't going well at the time and pulled up on his last run at Gowran in January. We freshened him up afterwards. We've no major plan but will pick away between hurdles and fences.”
