- Turnonthegas does just that
Turnonthegas does just that
The Cahore Point Handicap Hurdle went the way of the 12/1 shot Turnonthegas for John Carr and Ian McCarthy just denying Carrigeen Eile
The winner led from before three out and was strongly challenged approaching the last by the runner-up, but he pulled out more on the run in to win by just a neck at the finish.
The Dr Massini gelding won at Punchestown on his penultimate start but disappointed on his most recent outing at Limerick where he finished well behind Katie’s Jem.
The winning trainer stated afterwards “I’m delighted with that. He disappointed at Limerick on his last start and we have no real excuse for him only that the ground was terrible that day. We have been training him out of the field since.
"If the ground dries out anymore he will be finished for the season and we will bring him back next season to go chasing.”
The well backed 9/4fav Van Wyck could only finish a well beaten third.
