Wayne Lordan got some recompense for his nightmare run on Roconga in the opener, when just getting 8/13 shot A Shin Impala home in the five runner Crowne Plaza Dundalk Race & Stay Package Median Auction Race.
It could have went either way but at the line A Shin Impala edged Tonkinese (7/4) by a head. The pair battled it out from a furlong and a half out after the latter had endeavoured to make all.
It was 12/1 bar the front two and the opponent that went off at those odds, Rum Shack filled the third spot, six lengths back.
Fozzy Stack, son of winning trainer Tommy, said: "He's a horse that probably wants a mile and a quarter. He's a big, unfurnished type. We gave him a bit of a break after his last run, and he should come on from it."
