Gabriella Hill registered her first career success when guiding Glor Tire to victory in the BoyleSports Best Odds From 8am Handicap.
Trained by Jim Bolger, the Teofilo bay recorded her second consecutive success at Gowran on Monday and was widely-expected to bring up the hat-trick this evening, going off the clear market leader at 11/8 (from 5/2 in early shows).
Sent straight to the front, the Bolger homebred made virtually all. Joined before halfway by Solomon Coop she regained an outright advantage with three-furlongs to race and increased her lead from early in the straight.
Soon ridden, the likeable three-year-old kept up the gallop all the way to the line and came home a length-and-a-quarter clear of the staying on Arch Enemy
The Patrick Magee-trained runner-up was returned at 16/1, while Tachos (14/1) was another half-a-length away in third under Chris Hayes for Dermot Weld.
"We thought she had a good chance coming here today. She picked up well, I couldn't believe how well she was going, and she galloped to the line. I was very happy with her," Hill, who is 18, enthused.
"We hoped to jump out and ride her good and prominent.
"To get a first winner here is brilliant and I'd like to thank Mr Bolger and Jackie who have been brilliant to me. I've learned loads since joining their team.
"I got my licence late last year and had a couple of rides, and this year it's kicking off for me now.
"My grandparents and my parents are here and it's great support with them all coming up. My great grandmother was Charmian Hill.
"We always had a couple of horses at home and have a few in training at the minute. I've always been riding and started with a local point-to-point trainer.
"She's declared to run again on Saturday and hopefully we'll be going with a chance if she runs. She's come off her last run well and hopefully she can do the same.
"Hopefully I can ride out my 10lb claim this year and keep learning from Kevin (Manning) and Rory (Cleary)."
Bolger added: "I'd say she'll run again on Saturday (at Navan). It's a long time since I won three in a week!"
STEWARDS REPORTS
The Raceday Stewards interviewed Gabriella Hill, rider of Bold Approach concerning her use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted she was in breach of the Whip regulation and apologised for her actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Gabriella Hill was in breach of R10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered her record (first offence), the Raceday Stewars using their discretion suspended her for one raceday. Gabriella Hill was accompanied by Ms. Heather Heffernan in this enquiry.
