Double for Prendergast and McDonogh
Well-backed Rose Bonheur took the seven furlong listed Owenstown Stud Stakes at Naas in good style to give Kevin Prendergast and Declan McDonogh an early double at the track.
The Danehill Dancer filly, who had finished ninth in the 1000 Guineas last time out, was supported from 11/2 to 9/2 and went off favourite.
She beat Jessica Harrington’s Blaze Brightly and Barack from the Francis Ennis yard by two lengths and a neck repectively.
Prendergast said: “She won well. Her Guineas run was good. She was only beaten just under six lengths.
“Seven furlongs is probably her trip. She would want to settle better to get that extra furlong.
“We’ll probably go for a Group 3 over seven furlongs next. There’s a couple coming up over the next month to six weeks.
“She is very consistent and on her Guineas run had to have a big chance today.”
