Chagall gained consecutive annual wins in the CorkRacecourse.ie Handicap at Cork today as jockey Mark Enright continued his good recent start with the gelding's trainer Eddie Lynam.
Enright's first winner for Lynam was gained just three days ago at the Curragh on Saturday when steering 28/1 maiden winner Rough Diamond and today followed up under the 33/1 chance, which made all for a half length win over Lady Savanah
Chagall has failed to win in 19 non-Cork starts but is unbeaten over today's straight seven-furlongs track, having won this same race last year on his only trip to the Mallow course.
Enright has ridden on the flat every year since 2008 but has this year established himself as a dual purpose flat/jumps rider and the Galway Plate winning jockey, who rides out for Lynam once a week later stated “Eddie told me this morning that he was clever, would talk to you and knows what he is at, but the set of blinkers were a massive help.
“He enjoyed it and when the others came to him he went on again. He lugged a little right late-on and is a monkey.”
