6,299/1 Four-Timer for 'Slippers'
Niall 'Slippers' Madden and Mouse Morris probably thought things couldn't get any better after The Rebel Returns gave them a treble and double respectively in the O'Dwyer Tarmac Handicap Hurdle but half-an-hour later when Baily Rock scored in the Children's Entertainment Hurdle at odds of 20/1 it completed a 6,299/1 four-timer for the Kildare rider and a 2,519/1 treble for the Everardsgrange trainer at Tipperary. Present Gem still had every chance when unseating her rider, Andrew Lynch, at the second last, in the three miler at five fifteen. Baily Rock was then soon in front and he fended off College Daisy to win by one and three parts of a length.
The Rebel Returns and Baily Rock run in the well-known colours of Michael O'Flynn and these winners were the first for Morris since the latter and Elysian Rock gave himself and Madden a big-priced double at Punchestown on May 27th.
Getting rid of the crows and changing the water were put forward by Morris as reasons for his upturn in fortunes.
