Callum Shepherd, the rider of First Landing (GB), drawn 4, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his mount being slowly away.
Shepherd’s explanation that the blindfold had got stuck underneath the bridle, and required a second attempt in order for it to release cleanly was noted.
The Stewards wished to hold an enquiry into possible interference on the first bend involving Woodview (IRE), placed third, ridden by Liam Keniry, Lady Of Desire (GB), placed seventh, ridden by Laura Pearson, Tommytwohoots (GB), placed second, ridden by Jason Hart and the winner, Nortonthorpe Boy (GB), ridden by Luke Morris, but were unable to do so as Morris and Hart had left the course.
They adjourned their enquiry to a date to be confirmed.
Inside the final half furlong, the winner, Nortonthorpe Boy (GB), shifted quickly right-handed whilst racing greenly, carrying Tommytwohoots (GB), placed second, across Major J (GB), placed fifth, causing that colt to be steadied in order to avoid heels, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Nortonthorpe Boy (GB).
Following the race, Daniel Muscutt reported that Major J (GB), placed fifth, jumped awkwardly and Darragh Keenan reported that Banoffee (IRE), placed fourth, was denied a clear run.
