Permission was given for Lady Monica (GB) to be mounted on the chute and for Groupie (GB) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final half furlong when the winner, Desert Dream (GB), ridden by Cieren Fallon, interfered with Waqaas (GB), placed second, ridden by Isobel Francis.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Francis was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Desert Dream (GB)’s placing, as although Waqaas (GB) was intimidated off its intended line over the concluding stages, there had never been any contact between the runners and Francis had at no stage been prevented from riding a finish on Waqaas (GB), who appeared to lose no momentum as a result of the interference, which was of a very minimal nature before being beaten officially a head margin.
Fallon was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to hang right-handed, without timely correction, thereby causing the interference.
Following the race, Cieren Fallon reported that the winner, Desert Dream (GB), hung right-handed, Isobel Francis reported that Waqaas (GB), placed second, hung right-handed throughout, Megan Nicholls reported that Air Of York (IRE), unplaced, anticipated the start and David Probert reported that My Footsteps (GB), placed fifth, suffered interference leaving the stalls.
