I was fairly hopeful after winning at Fairyhouse and he came out of that well but I was hoping he was still at the right end of the weights. The way he travelled through the race, though, I thought he had gone out of it - I lost him for a moment half a mile out and then saw him again just before the last!. Fair play to Slippers, he persevered with him and got him home and gave him a great ride. It's great to get that after promising so much in the Goffs bumper but lost his way and had some trouble. The Galway Hurdle would have to be in the back of our minds as he's a good ground horse. Thomas Mullins, trainer

An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards (150 = 11st 10lb)
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race or hurdle races after calculation of the handicap shall carry any penalty or penalties which may be allotted by the Handicapper. Any horse rated above 150 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 150 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 150 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
