We felt we should come to Galway as that's what a syndicate horse is all about and there was an element of a social runner with him. I got it completely wrong with this fella as I thought he wanted very fast ground. I didn't expect him to handle the ground but obviously I'm wrong and he probably wants a bit of juice in it. It's a much improved performance and Jack's 7lb is huge. He gave him a beautiful ride all the way, never got checked at any stage. We have great luck together, Jack and myself. The Raceday Stewards enquired into the appropriateness of a person leading up The Jam Man who was not a stable employee as no current AIR card had been issued on behalf of the IHRB. P.J. Rothwell, trainer of The Jam Man, stated that he had employed a groom to lead up his charge and was not aware that a young child had taken the horses head while parading prior to the race. He apologised for the situation which he admitted had caused him embarrassment when it was brought to his attention. Having considered all the evidence, the Raceday Stewards accepted that P.J. Rothwell was aware of his obligation when running horses and that he was caught unaware by the situation that presented. In the circumstances the Raceday Stewards took no further action
