Permission was given for Desert Marathon (GB) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring, go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Marselan (IRE), ridden by David Probert, River Wharfe (GB), placed third, ridden by Luke Morris, and Night Moment (GER), placed fourth, ridden by Richard Kingscote.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of either Marselan (IRE) or River Wharfe (GB) as the interference had been minimal, Kingscote never had to stop riding and any momentum lost by Night Moment (GER) was considered less than the short head by which the colt was beaten for third.
The interference was found to be accidental as Night Moment (GER) had been left short of room when Marselan (IRE) had edged marginally right-handed at the same time as River Wharfe (GB) had given Night Moment (GER) a slight bump before being quickly corrected by Morris.
The winner, Marselan (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Windsor on 12 April 2021 where the gelding finished twelfth of 14 runners, beaten by 13 lengths.
The representative of Eve Johnson-Houghton explained that the Marselan (IRE) was suited by the return to Good to Firm, Good in places ground having raced on Good ground last time.
Her explanation was noted; the gelding was routine tested.
