Permission was given for both PERCY’S LAD and Substantial (GB), to wear a red hood to post, and for Substantial (GB) to go early to post.
Approximately 1 furlong after the start, the winner, Vafortino (IRE), shifted left-handed off the heels of PERCY’S LAD, unplaced, resulting in Lunar Space (IRE), unplaced having to take check but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Vafortino (IRE).
The winner Vafortino (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newmarket on 9th July where the gelding finished eleventh of eighteen runners beaten by 8 ¾ lengths.
Kevin Philippart de Foy’s explanation that the gelding appreciated the softer ground and had benefited from a break, was noted.
Vafortino was routine tested.
