Permission was given for Percy's Lad (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Approaching the final furlong out, Paws For Thought (IRE), placed fourth, edged slightly left-handed in front of Titan Rock (GB), placed eighth, who switched left-handed when committed for a legitimate gap.
This resulted in Boardman (GB), placed sixth, receiving a bump from Titan Rock (GB) and being slightly short of room as a result, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Paws For Thought (IRE).
The winner, Percy's Lad (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Ffos Las on 5 July 2022 where the gelding finished fifth of six runners, beaten by 12 ½ lengths.
The representative of Daniel & Claire Kubler explained that PERCY’s LAD had benefitted from a short break following several runs in competitive contests.
Their explanation was noted and the gelding was routine tested.
The performance of Titan Rock (GB) which started favourite and finished eighth of eleven runners, was considered.
The representative of John Quinn could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Titan Rock (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The performance of Fools Rush In (IRE) which finished ninth of eleven runners, was considered.
The representative of Hugo Palmer explained that the gelding was unsuited by racing wide having been drawn wide in stall eleven on this occasion.
Following the race, Sean Kirrane reported that Boardman (GB), placed sixth, was denied a clear run approximately 1 furlong out.
