Matira Bay (IRE), trained by John Bridger, was late in the Parade Ring due to the filly losing its left-fore shoe and having to be reshod.
Willingly (GB), drawn 11, anticipated the start and accelerated the gate at the same moment as the race had been started.
Being satisfied that it was not caused through a faulty action of the starting stalls, no further action was taken.
Approximately 1½ furlongs out, the winner, Gilt Edge (GB), shifted left-handed, giving a slight bump to Starchant (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Gilt Edge (GB).
Approaching the final furlong, Pastfact (GB), placed third, shifted right-handed under a left-handed drive, carrying Starchant (GB), unplaced, slightly off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Pastfact (GB).
Following the race, Sebastian Woods reported that Molly Shaw (GB), placed second, jumped awkwardly from the stalls.
