Permission was given for YOU’RE COOL to go early to post and for Silent Witness (IRE) to wear a hood in the parade ring only, and go early to post.
Qaaraat (GB), drawn 1, anticipated the start and accelerated the gate at the same moment as the race had been started thereby enabling the gelding to break quickly.
Being satisfied that it was not caused through a faulty action of the starting stalls, no further action was taken.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Daysaq (IRE), ridden by Elisha Whittington and trained by Mark Loughnane which after jumping on terms with the field was allowed to drift back and settle towards the rear before appearing to be considerately handled in the home straight to finish sixth, beaten by 3½ lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated her instructions were to jump nicely from a wide draw and try to slot in nearer the rail.
She added that the gelding suffered interference after approximately 1½ furlongs, when hampered and carried wider and that the gelding ran too freely, a fact which she reported at Scales.
Whittington further added that in the home straight, she kept a good hold of the gelding’s head and rode hands and heels with a view to keeping it balanced and in her opinion, obtained the best possible placing.
Her explanation was noted.
Approximately 4½ furlongs out, a free running Hachert (GB), placed seventh, moved right handed taking Daysaq (IRE), placed sixth, off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
On the run to the line, Manumission (IRE), placed third, lugged quickly left handed despite the riders best efforts, resulting in Aces (IRE), placed fourth, being checked for a number of strides on the rail but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Manumission (IRE).
Following the race, William Carver reported that YOU’RE COOL, unplaced, hung right throughout.
Connor Beasley reported that Aces (IRE) was denied a clear run in the closing stages.
Ray Dawson reported that Manumission (IRE) hung both ways in the straight and Andrew Mullen reported that Egrecio (GB), unplaced, was outpaced.
