The Starter reported that Zafaranah (USA) refused to enter the stalls and was withdrawn at 1.
21pm.
Stephen Hanlon was informed that the mare could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
When the pace steadied going around the first bend, Dark Crocodile (IRE), unplaced, resented being restrained by its rider and threw its head the air, losing ground, which resulted in a free-running Trepidation (GB), unplaced, running into the back of Dark Crocodile (IRE) and clipping its heels before stumbling, which in turn caused Cap D'antibes (IRE), placed sixth, to be buffeted for room against the rail and New Look (FR), placed third, to become unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
It was further noted that Boy George (GB), placed second; Ballyvil (IRE), unplaced; Hy Eales (IRE), placed eighth; and Van Dijk (GB), placed seventh, which were following this incident were all inconvenienced.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final ½ furlong when Internationalangel (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Kieran Shoemark, interfered with CAP D’ANTIBES (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Pat Cosgrave.
John Egan, the rider of Boy George (GB), placed second, was also interviewed, but found not to be involved.
Shoemark was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift right-handed for some distance without timely correction, causing Cosgrave to take a significant check on Cap D'antibes (IRE), and which also prevented him from then being able to ride a finish.
On the run to the line, the rider of Hy Eales (IRE), placed eighth, had to take a check when tightened for room between Van Dijk (GB), placed seventh, which edged left-handed and a weakening Pedro De Styles (FR), unplaced, which drifted slightly right-handed, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that there was no riding offence involved and it had not improved the placing of Van Dijk (GB).
Following the race, Daniel Muscutt reported that Trepidation (GB) ran too freely.
Jane Elliott reported that Hy Eales (IRE) also ran too freely.
