Approaching the final furlong, Turn Of Phrase (GB), placed fourth, shifted left giving Thunder Flash (GB), placed fifth, a slight bump, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Turn Of Phrase (GB).
Inside the final furlong, Turn Of Phrase (GB), placed fourth, hung left-handed causing George Rooke, the rider of The Lords Walk (GB), placed sixth, to ease his mount for a number of strides, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Turn Of Phrase (GB).
George Rooke, the rider of The Lords Walk (GB), placed sixth, had failed to ride out to the winning post having suffered interference inside the final furlong.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Rooke was suspended for 1 day for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures on a horse which could have finished placed fifth.
Following the race, Charlie Price reported that Diamond Shower (IRE), placed seventh, ran too free, Thore Hammer Hansen reported that Turn Of Phrase (GB), placed fourth, hung left-handed throughout and John Egan reported that Boy George (GB), placed second, ran too free.
