J.G. Gilligan, rider of Mac's Xpress, trained by Paul John Gilligan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left up the home straight
S.D. Torrens, rider of Gonetomillgrove, trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel in this race. This was subsequently confirmed by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer
The Raceday Stewards enquired into the closing stages of this race where all horses finished bypassing the last hurdle as instructed and finished on the inner track. Evidence was heard from the I.H.R.B Clerck Of The Course, Mr. P. Moloney who stated that if the last hurdle needed to be bypassed the riders were instructed to follow procedures and finish on the inner track. Having heard the evidence and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards allowed the result to stand and took no further action
At the request of the Raceday Stewards, J.G. Gilligan, rider of Mac's Xpress, trained by Paul John Gilligan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was hanging turning in and ran up onto heels.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 80-102 Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
