The Stewards interviewed S.P. Bird, rider of Ginsburg, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he had used his whip excessively. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that S.P. Bird was in breach of R10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record, they suspended him for 1 raceday
The Stewards interviewed H.J. Horgan, rider of River Derwent (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that some of the strikes were for corrective purposes. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that H.J. Horgan was in breach of R10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record, they suspended him for 5 racedays
The Stewards requested a report from Mr. Gerard Keane, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Ginsburg, placed first, as compared with its most recent run. Mr. Gerard Keane reported that the return to softer ground and the application of cheek pieces in his opinion brought about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report
S.T. McCullagh, rider of Liquid Luck trained by John James Feane, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled
S.D. Bowen, rider of Sheila trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly away from the stalls and failed to quicken.
