I thought we were very beatable first run back and to be honest I wasn’t going to run him only there was a very small entry. Jack said he had a couple of blows and was delighted with him – he jumped well. He was entitled to do it on ratings, but it’s not always that easy. There is a lot of prize-money to be picked up in conditions hurdles and he has no Grade One penalty, so he can step back into Grade Twos and Threes. I tried to ride him very similar to when I won at Leopardstown on him, just keeping it simple on him,. he just got into a lovely rhythm and wasn't for catching. He is a horse that gets into a nice rhythm and jumps well, he was probably jumping too well to that hurdle (second-last) and he just met it on a half stride. A bit of a guess just when we were starting to get rolling. Overall, he's a good jumper and it was a good performance. The two of us (Three Card Brag) probably were in the same boat in that we wanted a nice gallop, but neither of us were really mad to make it. We went along upsides and we went a nice, even gallop all the way. It kind of suited both of us and, in fairness, this lad picked up nicely into the straight. It is beautiful ground - it is just yielding, it isn't any slower. It is lovely jumping ground. We didn't declare for the Grade 1, we had a talk and some were for it and some against it. If he wasn't going to win this, he wasn't going to win the Grade 1 in an hour's time. Why take on a horse rated 10lb above you? He'd won one maiden hurdle and is the best horse we have in the yard, so it's nice to get another win with him. He'd prefer easier ground, it's as nice as he'd want it, but it's lovely ground and the track looks fantastic. Next to my father Dan Browne is the greatest gentleman I ever met and is a great supporter for the yard. I delighted for Jim Coffey and all the lads involved. It means an awful lot for every trainer to win here and thanks be to God we got one. We'll probably start off over two-and-a-half over fences next season and build it up. I'm delighted to have got off the mark and for everyone involved and the horse got a great ride from Dan. It is my home track as I'm from 15 minutes out the road although I'm based in Golden, Co Tipperary. I did the trainers' course around Cheltenham time this year and I've had one other Flat runner, along with this horse. I have three riding out but just him to run until Christmas time. I'll concentrate on my own horses for the time being and see how it goes. I rode a four-timer here in 2013 which seems a long time ago and it was always a lucky track for me, so I love coming here. This horse is a novice until December so things will get tough for him although whatever he does over hurdles is a bonus as he will be a good chaser. I might look at a three-mile handicap hurdle around Christmas but today had been his target for a while. The Slattery horse was annoying us all the way, sitting on my boot, so she was very good not to let that get to her. Off his chase rating you could say he’s thrown in but it doesn’t always work out that way. It’s pleasing to get it done. I was worried that it could turn into a bit of a messy race but he was just about okay. He was a little bit keen and in Mark’s hands most of the way round. He had a bit in the tank and stays well. It’s his first time completing a three-mile race so we’re happy with that and he’ll probably go to the Paddy Power (Chase) at Christmas. Off 134 hopefully he’ll get in, he would have the last couple of years and he’ll have a nice weight. He won a couple of races for us as a novice and then unfortunately picked up an injury. Last year when he came back he didn’t have a lot of experience and he’d days where he was a bit impatient. This year he’s been impeccable and is maturing with age.
