Tipperary Tue, 23rd Apr, 2024  Not Negotiable She was quite green and had a good look at the road where I nearly came off her twice. She is a big mare with a big engine and I'd be thinking soft ground, at a trip, over fences is where she'd really be at her best. We came here for the 2m4f and the ground had dried out a lot, but I think she is a proper winter mare. I'd be very excited with her and she is homebred by Nicola (Fitzgerald) who owns her. I'd be very surprised if she didn't end up being a black-type mare.

Tramore Sun, 21st Apr, 2024  Gua Du Large The better ground definitely helped him and Rachael was great on him. He was a bit unlucky in Fairyhouse but it's nice to get him back winning here. He jumped well today and I have no immediate plan for him. Hopefully he'll just keep progressing now.

Aintree Sat, 13th Apr, 2024  Brighterdaysahead The horses have been running well week, but we’ve been hitting the crossbar. I said a lot about this mare leading up to Cheltenham and I was gutted coming out of it, but we’re overjoyed today. She’s very good, I was nervous before the race because looking at her I thought she looked a bit light across her kidneys, but she showed how special she is. We can go wherever we want with her. I’m not going to say the best mare I’ve had because Apple’s Jade was pretty special, but she’s good. In this game there are always disappointments, but I look at life totally different now, I just love training winners and I love horses. But to win today is unbelievable. I don’t think the trip was the reason she got beat at Cheltenham, I thought she’d win. Willie’s horse (Jade De Grugy) has already come out and won at Fairyhouse. I just think on the day Jack and Paul (Townend) were watching each other and the other horse (Golden Ace) came and did them both. She’s gorgeous to look at.

Cork Mon, 1st Apr, 2024  Lifetime Ambition He has been lucky and unlucky as Susie fell off him the last day and she gave out to me for getting beaten on him at Ballindenisk (in December). I wasn't riding him but she gave out to me so I don't know how that works!. He is a beautiful horse, has done everything right but it is a pity we weren't qualified for Aintree as he was over-qualified. We thought we had the real deal for the race but he had been placed in the 2022 John Durkan (Grade 1) so isn't qualified this year. We will go to Punchestown instead, if the ground isn't heavy. We have a great family team at home and Susie is having a great time.

Jack said he couldn't get a lead any longer on her and he said she wasn't doing a stroke in front. She'll come on from it too as we missed a little bit of time with her, nothing serious just niggly things. She's got a pedigree to be nice and her future is in front of her. She looks like a chaser. I'd say at the moment she doesn't want that far, she's got a bit of boot for a big mare, but we had nothing else to run her in because I missed her last engagement and I didn't want to go to England with her.

Leopardstown Sun, 4th Feb, 2024  Fleur Au Fusil Jody was excellent on the mare, the mare was good and Jody gets on very well with her. It was an excellent performance,. It’s not the instructions you would give to anyone, to jump off and run away at halfway and still win! . I haven’t a clue whether we’ll go to Cheltenham or Aintree, this is her Gold Cup for the moment.

Leopardstown Sun, 4th Feb, 2024  Fleur Au Fusil Jody was excellent on the mare and it’s fantastic for Paddy Reilly (owner) — we could get a bar of a song!. She was very keen and Jody said she relaxed when she got to the front. She has a lovely stout French pedigree.
