The Raceday Stewards interviewed L.A. McKenna, rider of Good Time Jonny, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, L.A. McKenna stated that he had initially used the whip to straighten his mount but in the latter stages he further applied the whip to try and get second placing. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that L.A. McKenna was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency
Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards cautioned L.A. McKenna on this occasion
The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr R. James, rider of Eric Bloodaxe, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, Mr R. James accepted that he had breached the whip guidelines for frequency and added that his mount was idling going to the finish. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Mr R
James was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended Mr R. James for five racedays.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards (145 = 11st 12lbs) Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race or hurdle races after calculation of the handicap shall carry any penalty or penalties which may be allotted by the Handicapper.
