BEAU GEST (IRE) finished seventh at Brighton the previous day.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a pre-race examination of the gelding deemed him fit to race.
The winner, Bbob Alula (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 19 April 2022 where the gelding finished twelfth of 13, beaten by 8 lengths.
It was noted that Bill Turner could offer no explanation for the gelding's improved form.
Jason Watson, the rider of BEAU GEST (IRE), placed third, was suspended for four days for using his whip above the permitted level from approximately two furlongs out.
Following the race, Trevor Whelan reported that Sly Madam (GB), placed sixth, hung right-handed.
Daniel Muscutt reported that Amal (IRE), unplaced, moved poorly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post- race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The representative of J R Jenkins further reported that Amal (IRE) was unsuited by the Good to Firm, Firm in places going, and would prefer an easier surface.
