Permission was given for Mr Trevor (IRE) and Orchid Rose (IRE) to go to post early, and for Independent Beauty (GB) and The Grey Bay (IRE) to be mounted on the track and go to post early.
Amie Waugh, the rider of One Last Hug (GB), drawn 11, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in her horse being slow to start.
Waugh and the Starter were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
Waugh’s explanation was noted that she had not heard the ‘blinds off call’ and as a result was late removing the blindfold.
The winner, The Grey Bay (IRE), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Catterick on 18 September 2021, where the gelding finished tenth of fifteen beaten 9 lengths.
Julie Camacho explained that the gelding may have benefitted from the better draw and the strong pace on this occasion.
Her explanation was noted and The Grey Bay (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Harrison Shaw reported that Kolossus (GB), unplaced, ran too free.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Archimedes (IRE), unplaced, lost its left fore shoe.
