An enquiry was held to consider why Laura Young was running Poeta Brasileiro (IRE) here at Chepstow on going described as Good to Firm, Good in places, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Nottingham on 2 June 2021 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that having walked the track here at Chepstow, she felt that the going was easier than described and as a result, she was happy for Poeta Brasileiro (IRE) to take its chance.
Storm Melody (GB), trained by Ali Stronge, entered the Parade Ring without its declared cheekpieces, which were then located and fitted to the gelding before going to the start.
Stronge was cautioned.
Following the race, Ciaran McKee reported that Show Me The Bubbly (GB), unplaced, reared as the stalls opened and was slowly away as a result, Luke Morris reported that his saddle has slipped on the winner, Some Nightmare (IRE) and Edward Greatrex reported that Blue Cable (GB), which was pulled up, lost its action; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities other than Blue Cable (GB) had lost its right-fore shoe.
