Permission was given for Billy Dylan (IRE) to go early to post.
Leaving the stalls, King Robert (GB), placed eighth, jumped right making contact with Blue Cable (GB), unplaced, causing the filly to lose its position, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of King Robert (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 2 furlongs out involving Blue Cable (GB), unplaced, ridden by Rossa Ryan, Pastfact (GB), unplaced, ridden by Liam Keniry, Secret Potion (GB), unplaced, ridden by Trevor Whelan, and Farhhsical (GB), unplaced, ridden by James Sullivan.
The interference was found to be accidental as at the same time as Keniry and Whelan went for a tight gap, Blue Cable (GB), which was to their inside, stepped slightly out when cornering poorly resulting in Pastfact (GB) and Secret Potion (GB) becoming short of room and in turn moving a weakening FAHHRSICAL off its intended line.
The winner, Exchequer (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Catterick on 4 June 2021 where the gelding finished tenth of fourteen, beaten by 7 ¼ lengths.
It was noted that Phillip Makin’s representative could offer no explanation for Exchequer (IRE)’s improved form, other than that the gelding has been in good form at home.
Exchequer (IRE) was routine tested.
The performance of Pastfact (GB), which finished unplaced, was considered.
Charlie Wallis’ representative’s explanation that the gelding did not face the first-time application of blinkers was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Pastfact (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Russco (IRE), placed sixth, had lost its right fore shoe and Connor Murtagh reported that his saddle on Street Life (GB), placed third, slipped and that the gelding hung right-handed.
