It looked like it was going to be a dream day for Johnny Murtagh until Marjalina gatecrashed the party to deny Savethisdanceforme (who carried two pounds overweight) in the final strides. It was indeed the efforts of Declan McDonogh that deserve more of the plaudits as he was not helped by the greenness of his mount who was a Leopardstown maiden winner on good to firm ground last November.

It was a good battling performance by the daughter of Marju to claw back the winner who had shot clear just under two furlongs from home and looked to have it sewn up.

Kevin Prendergast later said that he had given this winner an Oaks entry earlier in the week and continued, "I thought she went alright, she was green as she only had one run before but she was pretty fit to win on that ground."

Deauville Vision had her best form on similar conditions and she stayed on best of the rest to finish third behind two fillies who are obviously a shade classier. Jalmira had her followers but they never looked like collecting. Last year's Cambrigeshire winner was subsequently a dual listed winner and she may have to drop back to that company after this.

Last year's Goffs Fillies Million winner Lush Lashes was having her second career start here and this was an obvious step up in class but she should come on leaps and bounds for this run to progress into a listed and group filly later in the campaign.

Both Queen Jock and Tintean were non runners due to being in season.
