J.A. Heffernan, rider of Agouti Bear, trained by Daniel James Murphy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount wandered a little bit in the closing stages
J.J.G. Ryan, rider of Goddaughter, trained by T.G.McCourt, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left under pressure
K.G. Kennedy, rider of Kurrawa, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled in the early stages
R. Whearty, rider of Muine Mor, trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his saddle slipped on the way to the start
C. Horgan, rider of Due Respect, trained by Michael Butler, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount got a bit tight for room in the straight but he hadn't the horse to fill the gap. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
The Raceday Stewards interviewed J.A. Heffernan, rider of Agouti Bear, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his mount was lying left from before halfway and he couldn't get her to switch leads. He further added that he was only waving his whip as opposed to striking his mount. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards gave J.A. Heffernan the benefit of the doubt on this occasion and took no further action.
