The Stewards enquired into an incident approximately one furlong out involving Balmont Mast, ridden by C. O'Donoghue, and Bainne, ridden by K.J. Leonard, where it appeared Bainne ran short of room on the rails and was forced to check. J. F. Levins, trainer, attended this enquiry with apprentice K.J. Leonard. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found C. O'Donoghue in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and having taken his record into account the Stewards suspended him for two race days. . The Stewards enquired into an incident approximately one furlong from the finish involving Intibaah (GB), ridden by J.P. O'Brien, In Salutem (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, and Your Pal Tal (GB), ridden by D.W. O'Connor, where it appeared Intibaah (GB) ran short of room and was forced to check. J.F. Levins, trainer, attended this enquiry with his apprentice, D.W. O'Connor. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards deemed any interference accidental in nature and took no further action. P.J. Smullen, rider of Alkasser, trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount couldn't go the early pace and met with trouble after that.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards that, at entry, have run at least twice under any Rules of Racing and are eligible for a handicap rating (105 = 9st 12lb) About six furlongs and 63 yds (Anglesey Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 9st 12lb Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 105 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 105 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 105 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
